Beeler Claims Second PCS Championship In Roseville Thriller

ROSEVILLE, CALIFORNIA (October 14, 2017) – Matt Wendt became first repeat Pacific Challenge Series presented by PenneyLawyers.com winner of 2017 in a near photo finish and Mike Beeler won his second series championship. It all made up for a thrill ride during Saturday’s October Classic 100 at All American Speedway in Roseville, CA.

Playing to a crowd of more than 3,000 fans at the one-third mile oval, the Pacific Challenge Series was paired with a five division program including NASCAR K&N Pro Series, West and North State Modifieds with close to 100 cars on the grounds.

Wendt was credited with leading all 100 circuits but many of them were spent with a familiar customer in tow – five-time Roseville PCS winner Jason Romero.

Romero led qualifying by breaking his existing track record with a 13.046 second lap. Wendt got the better of the duo in an exciting American Racer Tire dash. Points leaders Beeler and John Moore entered the evening tied but Beeler got an assist when he finished third in the dash while Moore was eighth. The dash set the lineup for the feature giving Beeler a head start in the battle.

The race was the nightcap and saw 19 PCS Super Late Models charge to the green flag with Wendt immediately sliding up the hill into Romero. Things got even more interesting in turn three when Cole Moore spun and was nearly hit by his father John while close to half a dozen other cars spun as well. Fluid from Shane Butler’s ride was the culprit for the incidents and it forced an extended red flag.

When action resumed Moore immediately climbed forward to challenge Beeler on the outside for fifth by lap three. Coming out of turn four side-by-side, Moore got sideways up against the front stretch wall and spun. Moore ended up hitting the turn one wall driver’s door first ending his championship drive.

Wendt picked the inside on each subsequent restart and managed to pull away from Romero on each try. Romero engaged with March Madera winner Carlos Vieira for second into turn one. Three-time track champion Matt Scott jumped inside Vieira to nab third in the wild scramble. 11 cars were still on the lead lap by lap 40 in the long green flag run with Vieira following Scott closely while Cole Moore battled with Beeler for sixth. Mike Hite spun from eighth for a caution on lap 45. Wendt washed up the track on Romero coming into turn one on the restart, with Scott briefly nosing inside for a three-wide move before settling into third. Hite spun again on lap 65 down the backstretch for another caution.

Travis Milburn began making his presence felt as he took over fourth from Vieira on lap 75 and started a back-and-forth duel with Scott for third.

Milburn grabbed third in the closing stages as the intensity picked up at the front. Romero ran on Wendt’s bumper and eventually side-by-side as they met traffic with two to go. Romero charged to the outside of Wendt down the backstretch on the final circuit. He was thwarted by lapped traffic momentarily before coming out of turn four side-by-side with Wendt. Wendt crossed the line a scant .017 seconds ahead of Romero to the approval of the big crowd with Milburn third ahead of Scott and Vieira. Beeler’s seventh place finish gave him the championship by 20 points ahead of John Moore’s DNF. Former Rose Classic winner Tim Bost made his Late Model return and drove from 19th to 11th for the Penney Racing Supply Hard Charger award.

The 2017 Pacific Challenge Series ran ten events at five different speedways with nine different race winners. Champion Mike Beeler was not one of the nine different winners, but ran second four times and fourth three times in a strong, consistent season. He finished every race of the year with a worst effort of eighth in the July Ron Strmiska Memorial at Stockton 99 Speedway.

Mike Beeler Gets Second Consecutive PCS Win With Ukiah Victory

By PCS Media/Blakesley Sports Media

UKIAH, CALIFORNIA (July 16, 2016) - 2014 Pacific Challenge Series champion Mike Beeler of Modesto became only the second repeat winner of 2016, and first back-to-back winner, taking a thrilling win in Saturday's round #8 at Ukiah Speedway. The PenneyLawyers.com-sponsored series produced an intense race on Fan Appreciation Night.

Lodi's Matthew Wendt won the Sunoco Fuels Fast Time award after tying Beeler in qualifying with a 12.645 lap around the quarter-mile asphalt oval. The American Racer Tire dash proved his undoing as he only finished seventh while Loomis' Chris Scribner got the win for a set of tires and the pole for the feature.

Scribner elected for the outside for the initial start and Manteca's JR Courage used that to his advantage to take the initial lead. Wendt wasted little time charging forward and was up to fifth by the fourth lap of the race.

Courage took off for a small lead before Leytonville's Corey James and Beeler reeled him in. Courage consistently fought a loose condition forcing him to give up the bottom line to James. James finally jumped inside Courage down the backstretch on lap 28 but Courage shut the door hard to keep the lead.

Shasta winner Tracy Bolin found a way to get around Wendt for fifth which dropped Wendt into a battle with Sacramento's Michael Roman. The battle got physical with lots of contact before they slammed doors in turn three and Roman took the position at the conclusion of lap 34.

Wendt eventually escaped to the pits with a flat tire on lap 42. He was able to return to the race a short time later however.

Roman spun off of the track in turns one and two for the first caution on lap 46 that set up a spectacular crash on the restart. Courage picked the inside line and raced side-by-side with James for half a lap, before James fell back into the clutches of Beeler. They raced side-by-side through turn four before James bounced off the wall, collecting both Bolin and Grass Valley's Don Swartz. Bolin suffered heavy front end damage that caused a fire under the hood as well.

After a brief red flag, Roman, Wendt, and James all returned to the track but Swartz and Bolin were eliminated. Mike Beeler took his challenge to Courage on the restart and swept past him on the outside at the conclusion of lap 49.

Beeler saw his lead ebb and flow by a car length to upwards of three car lengths all the way to the checkered flag, while Courage took on Scribner for second in a great battle.

Beeler scored win number two of 2016 in a back-to-back victory to go with his win on July 2nd at Stockton. Courage, Scribner, Roman, and James rounded out the top-five. Beeler also won the Penney Racing Supply Hard Charger as well.

The Pacific Challenge Series will roll into Madera Speedway on August 13th for a 75 lap feature to be televised on MAVTV. Madera Speedway is a one-third mile asphalt oval located on the Madera Fairgrounds

Beeler Emerges With Firecracker 100 Win At Stockton 99 Speedway

Via PCS Media/Blakesley Sports Media

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (July 3, 2016) - Saturday's Firecracker 100 for the Ron Strmiska Sr. Memorial at Stockton 99 Speedway ended with on-track fireworks and Modesto's Mike Beeler came away with the victory. The green-white-checkered finish saw Beeler get past Jacob Gomes to lead the final two laps for the $4000 win. Beeler, the 2014 series champion, is he sixth different winner through the first seven rounds of the Pacific Challenge Series.

Beeler's victory came from seventh on the grid in front of a crowd estimated north of 3000 for one of the biggest races of the season for the PenneyLaywers.com sponsored series.

Seven cars broke the track record in Sunoco Race Fuels qualifying including 2015 Firecracker 100 winner John Moore with a 13.104 second lap. Points leader Jeremy Doss of Upperlake, CA won the Strmiska Memorial Dash for $500 to win to earn the pole for the feature race. The race started after the annual fireworks show concluded and saw outside pole sitter Jacob Gomes take the lead at the conclusion of the first lap.

The first caution for a spin also relegated Travis Milburn to the pits for a stop for repairs. By the fifth lap of the race Tracy Bolin had navigated his way to fifth after starting ninth, while Kyle Gottula was up to eighth from 12th. Ron Strmiska's grandson Ross had a busy race throughout the night battling back-and-forth with Cole Moore while Bolin challenged Beeler for fourth. Milburn navigated back up to tenth at quarter distance at lap 25.

Lapped traffic became a factor for Gomes as he tried to hang on to his nearly two second advantage over Doss and John Moore. Things heated up midpack with Cole Moore and Gottula both getting past Strmiska in subsequent laps on lap 34 and 35.

Strmiska got Moore back a few laps later before Moore slowed dramatically to draw a caution lap 42 and retire from the race. The first attempt at a restart saw Bolin and Milburn mix it up, sending Milburn for a spin where he collected Stockton's Greg Potts. Both were eliminated from the competition.

Beeler used the restart to turn up the wick on Doss for second position, which he took over on lap 48. Doss appeared to be in trouble with heavy pressure from Bolin and Gottula among others in a tight pack. Things boiled over in turn two on lap 52 when Bolin was bounced from the pack and had slight contact with Danny Malfatti as he spun. Bolin's front end damage was significant and the contact with Doss was enough for Doss to take a pit stop as well. Bolin was out of the race after a strong month of June with a win at Shasta and a fourth at Roseville.

Gottula ran as high as second with 20 laps to go as the race stayed green near the finish. John Moore suffered a pair of flat tires that sent sparks flying from the #27 car to set up the green-white-checkered finish. Beeler and Gomes made hard contact on the first attempt at a restart, with Gomes showing smoke when the caution flew.

On the second attempt, Beeler and Gomes ran in a dead heat on lap 98. The Stockton crowd rose to their feet as Beeler took over the lead on lap 99 and Gomes spun diving into turn one. Strmiska and Gottula made hard contact avoiding Gomes and slid into the backstretch exit ramp, and Matthew Wendt spun a few hundred feet past them in turn three. Beeler dashed away with the win ahead of Doss, Elk Grove's Mike Hite, John Moore, and JR Courage. Moore was eventually moved up to third in the final rundown as Hite was dropped to fifth for a post-race infraction. Gomes reveled later that the smoke was a broken power steering line that left fluid on the race track before the subsequent series of melees.

The 2016 Pacific Challenge Series presented by PenneyLawyers.com rolls on to Ukiah Speedway on July 16th for the second of three appearances at the quarter-mile. For more information on the Pacific Challenge Series, visit them online at www.PacificChallengeSeries.com or on Facebook and YouTube.

Pacific Challenge Series Racing To Stockton For Strmiska Memorial

Via PCS Media/Blakesley Sports Media

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA (June 28, 2016) - The Pacific Challenge Series presented by PenneyLawyers.com will have one of its most coveted races of the year with Saturday's Ron Strmiska Memorial / Firecracker 100 at Stockton 99 Speedway. The $4000 to win race will also serve as the second round of the Tri-Holiday Series and is paired with a $2000 to win, 60 lap Stockton Late Model race along with Grand American Modifieds, Bombers, and Mini Cups. It all makes up for a big night at the 68 year-old quarter-mile bullring with fireworks capping off the festivities.

Ron Strmiska, Sr. was known as the Manteca Missile and also known for his distinctive pink #90 race cars. He won both the 1978 and 1979 Late Model Sportsman track championships and the success transferred to his son Ron, Jr. and grandson Ross as well. Ross Strmiska will be one of many valley drivers competing against the touring stars of the PCS.

2014 PCS champion Mike Beeler of Modesto is one of those local drivers aiming for success at Stockton. Beeler is winless in 2016 through the first six races of the PCS but has plenty of history at 99.

"Stockton's a special place," Beeler said. "A lot of racers have come through that track. It was really neat for me to start racing there 15 years ago. As a youngster I used to go up and watch Ron Sr. Really enjoyed hanging out with them and their family."

Valley Springs' Tracy Bolin earned his first career PCS win at Shasta and would enjoy nothing more than to get his second win at Stockton.

"It's my home track and you always get a lot of action there. So it's always a fun race," Bolin. "It would mean a lot to get one there."

We're going to have a lot of fans. The Firecracker 100 is always a popular race," Beeler said. "The stands will be full...excitement will be high. It will be hot, tempers will fly, and it'll be a lot of fun!"

Tracy's Jeff Bischofberger won his first career Super Late Model race when he won the SRL Southwest Tour race at Stockton last year. He hopes to add a PCS victory to the mantle on Saturday.

"I like Stockton a lot. It's kinda my hometown since I went to high school in Stockton," Bischofberger said. "I like the concept of the track and the way its laid out. Its a lot of good fun racing!"

Manteca's Jacob Gomes has four career PCS starts at Stockton including a win last season. He won the 2015 SRL championship and the 2016 PCS event at Madera in a busy 18 months for the young driver. Roseville's Eric Schmidt, himself a former Stockton track champ, topped Gomes for the win on Memorial Day weekend at Stockton.

Upperlake's Jeremy Doss leads the PCS points standings with a win at Ukiah, three runner-up finishes, and a third place effort in the May race at Stockton. Beeler ranks second in the standings ahead of Doss' teammate Bischofberger with Bolin in fourth. 2015 PCS Rookie of the Year Cole Moore of Granite Bay rounds out the top-five.

Manteca's JR Courage is sixth in the standings followed by Loomis' Chris Scribner in seventh. Lodi's Matthew Wendt won 11 of his final 14 Super Stock starts at Stockton before moving onto PCS. The Super Late Model rookie is up to eighth and ran sixth at Roseville last weekend.

Hayward's Danny Malfatti and 2015 PCS and Stockton Tri-Holiday Champion John Moore round out the top-ten in the points. Elk Grove's Mike Hite, Eagle, ID's Travis Milburn, Modesto's Kyle Gottula, Stockton's Colby Potts, and Roseville's Shannon Mansch are among other drivers expected on Saturday night.

Racing activities get underway Friday night with practice from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. On Saturday pit gates open at 1 p.m. with first practices at 3:30 p.m. Grandstands open at 5 p.m. with racing scheduled for 6 p.m. General admission tickets are $20 for Adults, $15 for Juniors age 11-15 and Seniors age 60+, and Kids 10 & under are FREE!

Pacific Challenge Series Returns To Shasta Speedway

Via PCS Media/Blakesley Sports Media

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA (June 1, 2016) - For the first time since 2013, the Pacific Challenge Series presented by PenneyLawyers.com will hit the 3/8ths mile Shasta Speedway in Anderson, CA on Saturday. A large field of local drivers and touring stars will go head-to-head in one of the premier races on the 2016 Super Late Model series' calendar. The last four previous Pacific Challenge Series champions will all be in action for one of the toughest fields so far this season.

Roseville, CA's Eric Schmidt is arguably the most accomplished driver at Shasta in the last 20 years with multiple fall Open Show wins and PCS wins at the venue. Schmidt swept all four PCS events at Shasta in 2013 en route to the series championship. The driver of the Sierra Speed #05 is fresh off of both the track record and win in last Saturday's Tri-Holiday Classic at Stockton 99 Speedway as well.

"Shasta's a really cool race track. It doesn't have a lot of grip but it has a lot of character," Schmidt said. "The fans up there are great. The pits are probably the best pits we go to on our series. All the fast guys will be there so it'll be awesome!"

2016 series points leader Jeremy Doss of Upperlake, CA finished second in his all-time series debut at the track in late 2011. His win at the speedway in 2012 was part of his eight victories that year for the series championship. Doss finished third at Stockton to enjoy an 18 point lead over teammate Jeff Bischofberger of Tracy, CA.

Anderson's Ryan Peeples is one of the leading local drivers that will be taking on the series veterans on Saturday. Peeples has two top-tens in three PCS Shasta starts and also finished ninth at Roseville earlier this year.

"It is a great series and a great track that creates a lot of excitement," Peeples said. "There is a lot of character to that track. A LOT! It is just a great facility. We're just hoping to come out and give (the fans) a good show."

Other local drivers expected include Anderson's Derek Copeland, Redding's James Johns and Jason Mitchell.

2014 PCS champion Mike Beeler of Modesto, CA ranks third in the 2016 standings with a pair of second place finishes and a fifth place finish in his last three starts. Factoring in his 17th place finish at the season-opener in Madera as a likely throwaway race makes Beeler one of the championship contenders as he makes his first Shasta PCS start.

Loomis' Chris Scribner had run in the top-six in all three races leading into Stockton last Saturday night before a hard crash on the final lap derailed his season. Rounding out the top-five in the points is Manteca's JR Courage despite missing the Roseville race.

Hayward's Danny Malfatti, Granite Bay's Cole Moore, Madera winner Jacob Gomes, Valley Springs' Tracy Bolin, and Lodi's Matt Wendt round out the top-ten. 2015 PCS champion John Moore is 11th in the standings. Other drivers expected on Saturday night include Elk Grove's Mike Hite, Idaho's Travis Milburn, Upperlake's Jimmy Stillman, Modesto's Kyle Gottula, Roseville's Shannon Mansch, and Cloverdale's Todd Lands.

Local Legends join the action for the fifth race where Legends have shared the card with the PCS. Pete Pierce won the Legends race at Stockton last weekend. Local Late Models, Bombers, and Hornets round out the card.

Friday night practice will see gates open at noon with practice from 3 p.m. - dark for $30 per pit pass. Saturday pit gates open at noon. Car and driver entry for the PCS is $100 while all other pit passes are $30. Adult general admission tickets are only $5 if purchased in advance through the fairgrounds or $7.50 at the gate

Stockton 99 Speedway Up Next For Pacific Challenge Series

Via PCS Media/Blakesley Sports Media

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA (May 24, 2016) - The Pacific Challenge Series presented by PenneyLawyers.com will make their first trip to Stockton 99 Speedway of the season, with round four of the Super Late Model championship on tap Saturday night. Saturday's races are the first of the three round Tri-Holiday Series at Stockton commemorating Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day weekends.

The historic Stockton 99 Speedway quarter-mile is embarking on its 68th season of racing action and is under the tutelage of Tony & Carol Noceti. A full night of racing action is on tap with Legends of the Pacific, the revitalized Stockton Late Models, and Bombers joining the evening's card.

Jeremy Doss scored his PCS-leading 17th career feature win by claiming the Mother's Day race at Ukiah Speedway two weeks ago. The Upperlake, CA driver leads his JD Motorsports teammate Jeff Bischofberger by just two points in the series standings. Doss is hoping to ride the momentum into Stockton where he has three wins but also three finishes outside the top-ten in his PCS career at the facility.

Bischofberger on the other hand scored his first career Super Late Model win at Stockton when he won a SRL Southwest Tour race there last season. Saturday will be Bischofberger's maiden PCS race at the facility.

An average finish of 5.3 has propelled Loomis' Chris Scribner to third in the championship standings. He has only two previous PCS starts at Stockton with one top-ten finish.

2014 series champion Mike Beeler of Modesto is fourth in the current rundown and has had some great success at Stockton. Beeler's Late Model career was focused on the weekly racing at Stockton before he advanced to PCS. Beeler won last year's third round of the Tri-Holiday Series and has a total of five top-tens in six career series starts.

Hayward's Danny Malfatti rounds out the top-five in the standings with three consecutive top-ten finishes to start out the season. Valley Springs' Tracy Bolin returns to his home track from the sixth position in the standings ahead of Upperlake's Jimmy Stillman in seventh. Bolin set the track record at the Madera season opener. His bad luck this year included a broken rear end at Ukiah that his team was able to overcome en route to a season-best fourth place finish.

2015 series champion John Moore of Granite Bay also won the 2015 Tri-Holiday three race championship and sits eighth in the standings after failing to take the green flag at Ukiah. Moore won the July Tri-Holiday event last year. Canadian Darrell Midgley and Manteca's JR Courage round out the top-ten.

Drivers with plenty of local track experience are expected at Stockton including 2015 SRL Southwest Tour champion Jacob Gomes of Manteca. Gomes won the season opener at Madera and also has a win with PCS at Stockton in his record books. Matthew Wendt has shown a lot of speed in his two PCS starts this year and hopes to translate that to success at his home track. The Lodi driver won 11 of his last 14 Super Stock starts over the past two seasons at the speedway.

Mike Hite, Travis Milburn, Kyle Gottula, Justin Philpott, and Larry Tankersley are among other drivers expected to return to PCS action with Saturday's race at Stockton.

Saturday's Legends of the Pacific race is the fourth time so far in 2016 that Legends have raced with the Pacific Challenge Series. Cameron Austin has had the most success with three second place finishes with two wins for Robby Czub and one for Luis Tyrrell.

Racing activities get underway Friday night with practice from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and pricing is $40 per person with no car fee. On Saturday pit gates open at 1 p.m. with first practices at 3:30 p.m. Grandstands open at 5 p.m. with racing scheduled for 6 p.m. Pit passes are $45 on Saturday. General admission tickets are $20 for Adults, $15 for Juniors age 11-15 and Seniors age 60+, and Kids 10 & under are FREE!

Jeremy Doss Earns Fifth Consecutive Ukiah PCS Win

Via PCS Media/Blakesley Sports Media

UKIAH, CALIFORNIA (May 8, 2016) - 2012 Pacific Challenge Series presented by PenneyLawyers.com champion Jeremy Doss won his 17th career win, and fifth straight at Ukiah, taking Sunday's 75 lap feature at Ukiah Speedway. Doss took over the lead on lap five and never looked back in the non-stop 16 minute feature.

The race was delayed to Mother's Day Sunday after rain washed out Saturday's racing activities. Doss' win also gives him the points lead by two points over his teammate Jeff Bischofberger after three of 13 races have been held in 2016.

The American Racer Tires Dash for a set of tires on Saturday night was canceled due to wet weather and not held, so the starting lineup was set based on an inversion. Sunoco Fuels Fast Time qualifier Mike Beeler pulled a four inversion which put Matthew Wendt and Doss on the front row.

Wendt led the opening four laps with Doss on his rear bumper before Wendt jumped into the turn four wall coming to complete lap four, to end his night early. Wendt escaped to the pits with right front damage and the race stayed green with Doss assuming the lead.

Doss lead by over a second at multiple times throughout the long run before Beeler would continually reel him in as they danced in traffic. Tracy Bolin suffered a broken rear end in Saturday practice and maintained a narrow fourth place run over JR Courage and Chris Scribner throughout the event.

Bischofberger overcame a broken axle in the 10 minute last practice session on Sunday to run third throughout the entire feature.

Upperlake's Jimmy Stillman used the leaders as a pick to overhaul Lakeport's Jeremy Hopkins for seventh past halfway in one of the stronger battles in the race.

Doss started slipping with a loose condition off of turn two and Beeler closed within a car length over the last five laps of the feature. Doss held on for a .483 second win over Beeler, Bischofberger, Bolin, and Courage. Beeler's run from fourth to second made him the Penney Racing Supply Hard Charger.

The Pacific Challenge Series continues its 2016 season with the first round of the Tri-Holiday Series at Stockton 99 Speedway on May 28th.

Jason Romero Thrills Roseville Crowd With First PCS Win

Via PCS Media/Blakesley Sports Media

ROSEVILLE, CALIFORNIA (April 16, 2016) - 2009 All American Speedway Late Model champion debuted a new car for Saturday's Pacific Challenge Series 100 at the one-third mile oval and promptly won the feature, in a crowd pleasing duel to 2014 PCS champion Mike Beeler. Saturday's nights races presented by PenneyLawyers.com served as round two for the touring Super Late Model championship series.

Mike Beeler won the $500 Dash for Cash after some nice outside moves against Loomis' Chris Scribner, with the dash finish setting the lineup for the main event. The battling between the two continued on a red-hot race track with five drivers breaking the track record in qualifying.

Eric Schmidt of Roseville, CA is both a PCS and All American Speedway champion and used the outside to get around Romero at the start to take third.

The top nine cars ran nose to tail until encountering lapped traffic, when Schmidt bounced off the lapped car of Dave Skaggs and into the infield. Schmidt collected 2015 Rookie of the Year Cole Moore. Schmidt was able to restart from the rear of the field while Moore lost nearly 20 laps making repairs.

Beeler won a cat and mouse restart with Scribner while Jeremy Doss battled hard with Romero for the third position. Doss hung in tight with Romero despite a persistent right front tire rub throughout the battle.

Jason Mitchell and Jimmy Stillman tangled with both black and red 39 cars making contact in turn four the next caution. Romero stumbled on the restart and fell back to the eighth position with Matthew Wendt in his series' points race debut also falling backwards from the top-five. Doss got around Scribner but Scribner was able to take the position back on lap 44 to maintain second.

2015 PCS champion John Moore remained in the top-five throughout the first half of the race until his brake rotors began glowing and he started to slip from the lead pack. Romero spent nearly five laps dueling with Moore before overtaking him for fourth on lap 51 and Jeff Bischofberger followed on lap 52.

Mike Hite spun across the infield grass for a lap 54 caution and Wendt spun for another caution on the ensuing restart. Things again settled down and stayed green allowing Romero to swoop past Doss on the outside for the third position. The intensity picked up as Romero then used an inside manuever to take second and start to reel in race long leader Mike Beeler.

Wendt retired to the pits on lap 66 and the final caution of the night fell on lap 71 when Don Swartz and Hite got together in turn four with Hite spinning to a stop.

That caution set up a duel for the ages between Mike Beeler and Jason Romero with Romero hounding Beeler throughout lapped traffic for the extended green flag run. With ten laps to go, Romero truly had Beeler in his grasp and five laps later Romero completed the pass for the lead to the roar of the approval for the track champion.

Romero cruised home for the victory while Beeler had to settle for second with Bischofberger and Scribner both managing to get past Doss before the finish. Canadian Darrell Midgley came from 13th on the grid to finish sixth for the Penney Racing Supply Hard Charger ahead of John Moore, Tracy Bolin, Ryan Peeples of Anderson, CA with a strong top-ten, and Hayward's Danny Malfatti with his second straight PCS top-ten.

JD Motorsports teammates Jeff Bischofberger and Jeremy Doss lead the series points with the next round taking place May 7th for its first of three appearances at Ukiah Speedway in Ukiah, CA.

Big Field Ready For PCS Late Model Action At Roseville On Saturday

Roseville's Shannon Mansch will defend last year's win on Saturday (Patriot Photography photo)

Via PCS Media/Blakesley Sports Media

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA (April 11, 2016) - A large field of drivers will battle for the win at one of the Pacific Challenge Series' home tracks, when the Super Late Models hit All American Speedway in Roseville, CA on Saturday night. The PenneyLawyers.com presented action will feature a 75 lap feature on the one-third mile asphalt oval located on the Placer County Fairgrounds. It is the second race of the 2016 Pacific Challenge Series schedule after Jacob Gomes won the series opener at Madera Speedway in March.

Saturday's race is the first of three points races and four events total for PCS at All American Speedway, and is also located just a few miles east of the Pacific Challenge Series offices that are inside Penney Racing Supply. For many drivers in Saturday's field, the race serves as a home race.

Four-time Late Model champion Eric Schmidt of Roseville headlines the local drivers looking to make a splash. Schmidt is the 2013 PCS champion and 2007 All American Speedway track champion along with SRL and Stockton 99 Speedway championships. Despite this resume, Schmidt is winless in six PCS starts at the speedway.

2015 champion John Moore of nearby Granite Bay, CA was one of the leaders in the expansion of the oval into a progressively banked one-third mile in 2008 and earned his first PCS win at the facility in the coveted October Classic non-points race last fall. His son Cole Moore, the 2015 PCS Rookie of the Year, is still looking for his first series win and ran in the top-five in two of the events held last year.

"If you haven't been there you need to come out because it is a special place. Beautiful spot to spectate!" Moore said. "I had a hand in restoring it with my friend (Bill) McAnally a few years ago and we put a lot of heart in it. It is a special place to both of us."

Roseville's Shannon Mansch won this event one year ago and is looking to bounce back from a hard crash at Madera three weeks ago. Mansch's win last year was her first top-five in five attempts at her home speedway so she looks to use that momentum for another strong finish this year.

The most dominant driver at Roseville for PCS racing has been Jeremy Doss, the 2016 Kulwicki Driver Development Program member and 2012 PCS champion. The 19 year-old has 16 career PCS wins with six of those taking place in his eight All American Speedway starts. Doss finished second in the season opener at Madera and will bring teammate Jeff Bischofberger to Roseville as well.

2014 PCS champion Mike Beeler of Modesto has one series win at Roseville in seven starts. Travis Milburn of Eagle, ID got his first Roseville PCS win in June last year while Modesto's Kyle Gottula won the September round last season. Loomis' Chris Scribner has six attempts at Roseville while JR Courage has four and each is still looking for their first W.

A host of drivers are aiming at their first attempts of the 2016 season on Saturday night, including 2009 track champion Jason Romero of Cameron Park, Stockton 99 Speedway Super Stock champion Matthew Wendt, 2010 Roseville track Rookie of the Year Michelle Nagai, 2015 fifth in points Don Swartz, and Redding's Jason Mitchell.

The top-ten in the Pacific Challenge Series standings following Madera sees Jacob Gomes ahead of Jeremy Doss, Jeff Bischofberger, John Moore, Canada's Darrell Midgley, Chris Scribner, JR Courage, Hayward's Danny Malfatti, Upperlake's Jimmy Stillman, and Cole Moore. Valley Springs' Tracy Bolin broke the Madera track record before failing to finish and credited with 16th place. Elk Grove's Mike Hite was sixth in the 2015 order but dropped out early at Madera as well to finish 18th.

A great night of racing will be presented to the fans with the Legends of the Pacific and Street Stocks joining the card along with the American Racer Tires dash.

Friday action includes a practice session from 3 p.m. until dark. The pit gates will open at 1 p.m. for practice with pricing $40 per person (no car fees). On Saturday grandstands open at 4 p.m. with racing at 6 p.m. Pit passes are $30 for PCS members and $40 for non-members.

Ticket prices are priced $15 for Adults, $7 Seniors 60+ & Juniors 6-15, with Children 5 and under free! All American Speedway offers a family pass for 2 Adults & 3 Juniors is only $35 as well.

For more information on the Pacific Challenge Series, visit them online at www.PacificChallengeSeries.com or on Facebook and YouTube. All American Speedway is located at the Placer County Fairgrounds on All America City Blvd in Roseville, CA.

The Pacific Challenge Series is presented by: Penney Racing Supply, Penney & Associates, American Racer Tires, Maita Chevrolet, Compact-It, Northwest Compactors, Naake Suspension, Sunoco Fuels, Five Star Bodies, Lefthander Chassis, ARP Bodies, Joes Racing Products, Bassett Wheels, Frank's Radio, WrapStar Pro, and Blakesley Sports Media. Pacific Challenge Series Fires Off Saturday At Madera

From PCS Media/Blakesley Sports Media

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA (March 15, 2016) - The Pacific Challenge Series presented by PenneyLawyers.com returns to racing this Saturday night at Loanmart Madera Speedway for its 2016 season opener. Super Late Model teams from all over the west will invade the one-third asphalt oval for a 75 lap feature to be televised on MAVTV.

The stop at Madera sets in motion a busy 13 race campaign with 12 points events plus a non-points season finale in Roseville, CA. Drivers will use points earned from their ten best finishes to try to take the championship. Madera's two PCS rounds are the first series races ever to be televised, with both being produced locally by promoter Kenny Shepherd and Short Track Management to air on MAVTV in tape-delay later this year.

Three of the last four series champions saw their PCS title as their first career SLM championships. The series' all-time winningest driver Upperlake's Jeremy Doss claimed the crown in 2012 at just 15 years old before Modesto's Mike Beeler won in 2014 and Granite Bay's John Moore is the defending champion from 2015. All three are set to run the full season this year in one of the most competitive points fields in PCS history.

Doss won the inaugural trip to Madera last August after a barn burning battle with 2015 SRL Southwest Tour champion Jacob Gomes. Gomes is also expected on Saturday night. Beeler led the first 24 laps and won the dash last year before ultimately finishing third in the race. Beeler came up just ten points short of Moore in his bid to become the first repeat series champion.

Moore's son Cole Moore was the 2015 Rookie of the Year without a win but with eight top-tens in his debut asphalt oval season. Cole ranked third in the points standings ahead of Elk Grove's Ron Chunn and Grass Valley's Don Swartz.

Another early title contender for 2016 is Travis Milburn, a St. Mary's College (CA) business graduate originally from Eagle, ID. With extensive touring experience in the NASCAR West Series, Milburn had an average finish of fourth in his seven starts last season including a win at Roseville last June.

Others expected at Madera include sixth in 2015 points Mike Hite, April Roseville winner and 2006 Westcar champion Shannon Mansch, and top 20 in the points drivers Chris Scribner of Loomis, Bobby Hodges of Carson City, NV, Hayward's Danny Malfatti, John Nesmith, and Tracy Bolin.

Kyle Gottula of Modesto won the September Roseville event last year and perhaps has the most Madera experience of anyone expected on Saturday. JR Courage will set sail on a planned inaugural full-time PCS campaign on Saturday night as well.

Saturday's action begins a series that will travel to Roseville's All American Speedway on four occasions, Stockton 99 Speedway and Ukiah Speedway each on three occasions, two trips to Madera, and a single trip to Shasta Speedway in Anderson.

Madera Speedway has served up a busy night of racing with the King of the Wing Western Sprint Cars and local Twisted Tea Modifieds sharing the card for three features in one night of racing.

An extended practice will kick things off Friday afternoon, with gates opening at noon and practice running from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. There is no car fee just a $50 pit pass fee with concessions being offered for sale as well. On Saturday night, the first practices will begin rotations at 11:30 before qualifying at 2:30, a Dash for Cash at 6 p.m. and the Pacific Challenge Series 75 is the final race of the night at approx. 9:30 p.m.
