Via MKRacin29 Media

Eureka, CA (July 25, 2019) – 2019 has been a season of major change for young MKinzy Uselton. The Eureka native came into the year with a new confidence after participating in the Lakeport Indoor Outlaw Kart circuit through the winter months. That experience has helped carry her to perhaps her most successful season behind the wheel in her Legend car at Redwood Acres Raceway and her 250cc outlaw kart with the Humboldt Outlaw Karts.

Wet Forecast Cancels Saturday’s Humboldt Outlaw Kart Event

Eureka, CA (May 14, 2019) – The scheduled Humboldt Outlaw Kart races that were scheduled for this Saturday May 18 have been cancelled. A wet forecast through the rest of the week including the high probability of rain on Saturday and the likelihood of racers from out of the area attending forced HOK officials to make the unfortunate decision earlier in the week than usual.

The race was scheduled to be the second event of the season for the outlaw karts at the 1/8-mile Redwood Acres Fairground Bullring dirt track. The season opener was held earlier in the month on May 4. The 2019 season is the first that a season long points champion will be crowned in each division and the unfortunate loss of the race scheduled on Saturday cuts the number of points paying events down to five.

Aaliyah Mitchell leads the standings in the Champagne Attorney Service beginner box stock class over Adam Myer, Colin Wolfe and Raylan Ross. The Williamson Financial Group box stocks featured some high speed and ultra-competitive racing in the season opener. Grant Proctor leads Dylan Combest by four points with Janice Walters, Corbin Green and Jack Myer completing the top five.

Nick Ford is a seasoned veteran on the 3/8-paved oval and he will likely be the driver to beat every week in the Fortuna Wheel & Brake fart karts. Jeffrey Smith is only two points behind him though. The Miclette Family Motorsports pure stocks should have a very interesting points battle. Leonard Ward leads Chris Lawrence while Pete Miclette, Jordan Miclette and Michael Lawrence hold down the top five in the standings.

Dryver Dothage is not only a rising star in the Wes Green Landscaping 250cc division for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts, he is also one of the rising stars in the Northern California racing scene period. Dothage holds the advantage in the 250s over four young female racers, MKinzy Uselton, Maleesa Miles, Sonya Osborne and Lily Williamson. Tony Miles has a one point advantage over Dax Williamson in the Nor Cal Automotive 500cc outlaws.

The next race for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts is on Saturday, June 1. For more information including the full 2019 season schedule and up to date results and point standing information visit www.HumboldtOutlawKarts.com or go to Facebook #/HumboldtOutlawKarts/

Dothage, Proctor Among Humboldt Outlaw Karts Opening Day Winners

250cc winner, Dryver Dothage

Eureka, CA (May 7, 2019) – Champagne Attorney Service presented the opening event Saturday afternoon for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts. As has been the case since the karts moved to the 1/8-mile dirt bullring, the on-track action was both intense and entertaining.

The newest division for the HOK is the stock lawn mowers. An exhibition race took place to give fans an idea of what to expect as the class develops in the coming season.

The day belonged to Aaliyah Mitchell in the Champagne Attorney Service beginner box stocks. She dominated both the heat race and feature events, taking the main event win by three laps. While the rest of her competition was comprised of first-time rookie drivers, Mitchell’s victory was no less impressive. Following Mitchell in the finish of the main event were Adam Myer, Colin Wolfe and Raylan Ross.

It was a fantastic field for the Williamson Financial Services box stock class with 13 drivers participating. Grant Williamson was the winner of the first heat race while Grant Proctor won the second. Initially the box stock main event was going to feature the full field of karts but race officials decided to run a B main event would provide a safer and better overall racing environment.

The B feature saw fantastic racing between Corbin Green and Austin Bartholomew. Coming to the checkered flag, Green was able to narrowly beat Bartholomew for the win. Both drivers advanced to the feature race. The story of the main event was the battle for the race lead and the victory between Proctor and Dylan Combest. Both drivers were evenly matched in terms of green flag speed which meant the battle for position on the restarts proved to be a major influence in determining positions.

Proctor led the early stages before a mid-race caution bunched the field with Combest getting the jump and the lead. It appeared as though Combest was going to take the victory but another caution forced another restart. Proctor was able to get the best of Combest to retake the lead. The rest of the race went caution-free with Proctor holding off Combest for the win. Bartholomew placed third with Janice Walters fourth and Chayce Smith fifth.

Amanda Harpe narrowly beat out Nick Ford in the heat race for the Fortuna Wheel & Brake fart karts. The main event saw Ford take the lead early and dominate the rest of the way. At the finish it was Ford beating Landon Green and Jeffrey Smith.

In heat race action for the Miclette Family Motorsports pure stocks, it was Leonard Ward taking the win. The feature race proved to be no different as Ward dominated and crossed the finish line with a 4.5 second advantage over second place Chris Lawrence. Pete Miclette, Jordan Miclette and Michael Lawrence rounded out the top five finishers.

Young Dryver Dothage has moved from driving a box stock outlaw to a Wes Green Landscaping 250cc kart. He looked very comfortable behind the wheel, winning the heat race. The caution flew several times in the feature but the slow downs did little to deter Dothage as he was able to control the race and take the victory. Maleesa Miles and MKinzy Uselton placed second and third and both showed great improvement behind the wheel since the end of the 2018 season. Two more female talents rounded out the top five in Sonya Osborne and Lily Williamson.

The Nor Cal Automotive 500cc heat race and main event wins went to Tony Miles. Dax Williamson placed second in both races.

Racing action for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts will return on Saturday May 18. For more information visit www.HumboldtOutlawKarts.com or on Facebook #/HumboldtOutlawKarts.

Uselton’s 2018 Season Coming To A Close

Eureka, CA (September 23, 2018) – The 2018 racing season for young MKinzy Uselton is nearing its end, at least in her home town area. The Humboldt County racer completed her third season of racing in Redwood Acres Raceway’s Legends division and is also currently in her third year behind the wheel of a 250cc outlaw kart.

2018 wasn’t exactly the kind of season that fan favorite Uselton was hoping for on the pavement. In 2017, Uselton led the points standings for Redwood Acres Raceway’s Legends division but narrowly lost out on the championship. In spite of adversity this season, MKinzy finished seventh in the standings, only 11 points out of finishing in the top five of the ever-expanding and highly competitive division.

Track changes forced Uselton to adapt in her 250cc outlaw kart. The first part of 2018, the Humboldt Outlaw Karts raced on a 1/10-mile dirt oval in the infield of Redwood Acres Raceway. The outlaw karts were able to get a permanent 1/8-mile track built at the fairgrounds and the larger circuit has seemed to be a better fit for Uselton’s driving style.

Uselton will be competing for the Humboldt Outlaw Kart’s season ending event at Redwood Acres Fairgrounds on Saturday October 13. MKinzy is also hoping to compete in the Lakeport Indoor Kart series over the winter however she and her team are looking for financial assistance to be able to compete. Current NASCAR drivers Kyle Larson and Tyler Reddick have used the Lakeport Indoor Kart series as a stepping stone in their careers and MKinzy is hoping to better hone her skills against some of the top outlaw kart competition in the region.

If you are interested in partnering with the young, talented up and coming driver toward her efforts in the winter series, in Redwood Acres Raceway’s Legends division or in the Humboldt Outlaw Karts, contact girlracin29@gmail.com for more information. It is a great opportunity to partner up with an exciting female racer who is looking to reach her full potential on both the local and regional levels of racing.

MKinzy is supported every race by her crew chief, Brett Uselton a.k.a “Papa”, Lil John Jameson, Lissa Uselton and Aaliyah Hughes Mitchell. She is sponsored by Jim Redd Four Star Realty, Verizon in Fortuna, CA, John’s Used Cars, Joe’s Auto Glass, Site Master West, Left Coast Vinyl, Redwood Mechanical, Central Office, Grandpa Mitchell, Red Boots Racing/Julia Moulton, Higgins Brothers, The Bud Sister, Happy Donuts Express Asian Food, Dee Kenney at Bayside Realty & Howard’s Body Shop.

Uselton looking to improve upon a successful 2017

Eureka, CA (April 14, 2018) – With only two weeks left before the start of the 2018 season at Redwood Acres Raceway, MKinzy Uselton and her number 29 team enter the year with excitement and higher expectations. It will be her third year of racing on RAR’s pavement in the Legends division.

In 2017, Uselton greatly improved on her rookie season which was her first time ever behind the wheel of any racecar. Last year, Uselton came up a bit short of winning the track championship with a second-place finish in the standings. Her best finish was a second on the July 10th race. She also scored her first victory of any kind in the May 13th heat race.

2018 also marks the return to outlaw kart racing for the young driver. It will be her second year on the dirt as she will once again be racing in the 250 class. The first race of the year for the Humboldt Outlaw Karts is this coming weekend, Saturday April 21st at the Redwood Acres Fairgrounds.

The Uselton race team would like to thank their partners whose support is greatly appreciated; Jim Redd Four Star Realty, John’s Used Cars & Wreckers, Site Master West, Joe’s Auto Glass, Higgins Brothers, Bayside Realty, Howard’s Body Shop, The Bud Sisters Salve, Happy Donuts Express Asian Food, Redwood Mechanical and Eureka Payments.

Bad Luck Hinders Uselton’s Chance At RAR Track Championship

Eureka, CA (September 11, 2017) - Going into this past weekend, young Mkinzy Uselton was only four points behind her title rival, Tyler Peach in Redwood Acres Raceway Legends division point standings. Uselton entered the evening only four points behind Peach in the championship standings. Unfortunately, an incident at the start of the main event diminished her chances.

Uselton spun off turn four and hit the wall hard. While the driver was okay, her car was severely damaged. Initially the MK Racin’ 29 Team thought that it was the end of the season and the championship due to the heavy damage on the car. Fortunately, the crew was able to determine that the 29 Legend was fixable and will be able to finish out the season on RAR’s last weekend of racing, the Fall Spectacular. While she faces longer odds going into the September 1st and October 2nd event, Uselton will still be able to win Redwood Acres Raceway’s Legends division title.

Before the end of the season of pavement racing ends for Uselton, she will be racing at the Acres 1/10th-mile dirt track. Mkinzy and her younger sister Aaliyah will be in action this coming Saturday September 16. Mkinzy will behind the wheel of her 250 kart while Aaliyah will be racing her box stock. Both are rookie racers in outlaw karts. The Uselton sisters are the granddaughters of former real stock and sportsman division driver Lissa Uselton who was a fan favorite during her time behind the wheel.

Mkinzy’s Legend race team is led by her crew chief and grandfather, Brett Uselton aka “Papa” who also serves as crew chief on her kart. Uselton’s 250 kart is owned by Fredy Champagne and is also crew chiefed by Wayne Fisher aka “Pepper”. The rest of the MK Racin’ 29 Team is made up of Jim Jameson, Jim McIntosh, Lissa Uselton, Aaliyah Hughes Mitchell and Unk B. Sponsors for Uselton are Jim Redd Four Star Realty, Verizon in Fortuna, CA, John’s Used Cars, Left Coast Vinyl, Central Office and Red Boots Racing & Mrs. Moulton.

Uselton In Championship Fight As 2017 Winds Down

Eureka, CA (August 28, 2017) – Only two race weekends remain for teen driver, MKinzy Uselton in the 2017 season. The second-year youngster was the points leader of Redwood Acres Raceway’s Legends division and will look to regain her advantage in the next race on September 9th.

Though Uselton has yet to win her first feature event, she was able to claim her first ever victory in heat race action on May 13th. Uselton has gone from never having drove a car prior to 2016 and has steadily progressed every week. MKinzy is the only driver who’s started every race in the Legends division at RAR in 2017. Her best finish was second place on June 10th. She has two other top five finishes, a third on April 29th and a fifth on August 5th.

Uselton has also steadily improved on the dirt as she has been a competitor in Redwood Acres Raceway’s 500/open outlaw kart division. Uselton has gained pace and showed in in qualifying for the most recent race on August 27th when she set a time of 10.492. In comparison, Uselton ran an 11.992 in her first ever qualifying session on the dirt.

MKinzy’s younger sister, Aaliyah is looking to follow in her sister’s footsteps as she has recently taken to the track in a beginner box stock. The eight-year-old started off the season at the mid-way point and has drastically improved. This past weekend, Uselton placed sixth only one lap off the pace her best finish in her third ever race.

The Uselton sisters are granddaughters of former fan-favorite Acres driver, Lissa Uselton. MKinzy’s Legend race team is led by her crew chief and grandfather, Brett Uselton aka “Papa” who also serves as crew chief on her kart. Uselton’s 250 kart is owned by Fredy Champagne and is also crew chiefed by Brett Uselton aka “Papa”. MKinzy Uselton Looking Forward To Her Sophomore Season In Racing

By Matthew J. Sullivan

After finishing fifth in the Legend point standings in her rookie season of racing at Redwood Acres Raceway, Eureka, California racer, MKinzy Uselton will be looking to step up her game for the 2017 season. In addition to driving a new Legend car for the upcoming season at the 3/8-mile facility, Uselton will also be participating in the Acres’ Outlaw Karts driving a 250 kart.

2016 was certainly a learning year for Uselton and the MK Racin’ 29 team in RAR’s Legends division. It was Uselton’s first time behind the wheel of any type of race car. In spite of that, Uselton steadily improved behind the wheel as the season progressed. In total she earned four top five finishes in six starts with an average finish of 4.8. In addition, Uselton was voted by Acres fans as having the best appearing Legend car.

Uselton will be expanding her horizons in 2017 as along with returning to the Legend class, she will also be driving a 250 outlaw kart. It will be the second season of action for the karts at Redwood Acres Raceway and Uselton will be partaking in the six non-point events.

Uselton is the granddaughter of former fan-favorite Acres driver, Lissa Uselton. Her Legend race team is led by her crew chief and grandfather, Brett Uselton aka “Papa” who will also serve as head wrench on her kart. Uselton’s 250 kart is owned by Fredy Champaigne and crew chiefed by Wayne Fisher aka “Pepper”. The rest of the MK Racin’ 29 Team is made up of Jim Jamson, Jim McIntosh, Lissa Uselton, Aaliyah Hughes Mitchell and Unk B. Sponsors for Uselton are Jim Redd Four Star Realty, Verizon in Fortuna, CA, John’s Used Cars, Left Coast Vinyl, Central Office, Red Boots Racing & Mrs. Moulton, Bayside Realty, Howard's Body Shop and Dee Kenny.
