Zamora Aims for Newberry Three-Peat

Wenatchee, WA (September 19, 2019) – Brittney Zamora, the defending two-time champion of the Northwest Super Late Model Series, has spent this season focusing on her first full year on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series. Currently ranked inside the top-5 in the championship standings on the series, while sitting second in the chase for the Rookie of the Year title, Zamora has had little time to race for her family-owned late model team. When she does make a start in the late model ranks, the Kennewick native has proven to be up for the challenge.

Heading into Saturday’s Neal Newberry 125 at Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval, Zamora is eager to add another victory to her NWSLMS resume; especially at Wenatchee where she’s had tremendous success in her career. The 19-year old has two consecutive Newberry victories and will be a favorite to add another win to her record.

“It will be fun to get back to Wenatchee in my Super Late Model and I know a lot of people expect a three-peat out of me, as I expect that from my self as well. It feels good to know that it is an achievement that others believed in me to be able to do so.

“I can’t pinpoint a single factor that has made Wenatchee successful for my team and me in the past. It’s got to be a combination of confidence, set-up and our constant desire to get better. We could be sitting as the fastest car on track, but that still is never good enough for my family and me. We want every little bit we can get out of the car and we have to make sure that we are good both on long run and short runs and I think that really helps us in race trim.”

Wenatchee is a track the team has worked hard at finding consistency in the balance of the racecar. The track is challenging to keep up with, according to Zamora. “When trying to get a good feel for the car, a lot of factors come into play at Wenatchee. It’s crazy how the sun hiding behind the clouds can impact the track and therefore how the car feels, sometimes it’s a little change and sometimes it’s drastic, but it’s all part of the game. Having the skill and knowledge and preparing for how you know the track has changed in the past helps, but sometimes you just got to roll the dice and do what you feel is best heading into that 125-lap main event at night”

Zamora has a handful of races left on her 2019 schedule between the late model team and her NASCAR K&N Pro Series Toyota out of the Bill McAnally Racing shops. Her focus is on finishing strong this season to build for the future.

“It is still peak time of this racing season. I have to focus on what is happening currently and how to improve on and off the track to get our best results and to keep proving myself as a driver which will hopefully lead to continuous plans and partnerships for the 2019-2020 season.”

The stars of the Northwest Super Late Model Series descend on Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval this Saturday for the track’s final event of the season at the .250-mile speed plant. To learn more log onto nwslms.com or the series Facebook page.
