Lakeport, CA….. After a two week break, auto racing will return to Lakeport Speedway this Saturday night. Plus as a special treat, drivers will be giving all the kids a ride around the track in a real race car.

It will be the third event of the season under the new Northern California Racing Association management featuring the NCRA Modifieds, The Taco Bell Bombers, the D&P Pool Legends Cars, the Anderson Logging Bandoleros and the NCRA Jammers. Also joining the line-up will be the Nor-Cal Pro-4 Modifieds.

The points battle in NCRA’s top two divisions are close as they go into the second half of the championship competition. Darrin Sullivan of Kelseyville leads the way in the modified chase with a seven point advantage over Eric Johnson, also of Kelseyville. Lakeport’s Richard Knight sits in third place, trailing Johnson by only eight points. Michael Snider holds fourth place, and Chris Salmina rounds out the top five. This Saturday night the modifieds will be running for $750 to win

In the Taco Bell Bomber class Lauren Snider of Kelseyville is the points leader, but Mike Sullivan sits in second, only 10 points behind. Third place in the chase goes to Rick Jelton, Davey Jones is fourth and Trevor Abella is fifth. At the last race Snider and Sullivan fought hard for the win but ended up crashing in the final rounds and did not finish the race.

Preceding Saturday’s action will be a Friday evening Test & Tune session from 6pm until 8pm so the drivers can tune up their cars.

Gates open at 5pm with racing at 6pm. Kid’s rides will begin right after the trophy dashes at approximately 6:30pm. Front gate prices are $10 for general admission, $5 for kids ages 6-11, and children under five get in free.
