Madera Points Leaders To Attend West Coast Stock Car HOF Banquet

MADERA, CALIFORNIA (June 1, 2019) – Two of Madera Speedway’s brightest young stars will have an opportunity to interact with some of the biggest names in west coast stock car racing history. Nut Up Pro Late Model Series points leader Austin Herzog, age 16, and 51FIFTY Energy Drink Jr. Late Model Series points leader Tanner Reif, age 13, will be special guests of the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame banquet.

The drivers in the MAVTV-televised divisions will be on hand on June 20th at the Mertiage Resort in Napa, CA. The 11 inductees of the 2019 class for the HoF include four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon, team owners Gary Bechtel and Bob Bruncati, the late Joe Gibbs Racing President J.D. Gibbs, NASCAR weekly national champion Doug McCoun, and NASCAR K&N Pro Series, West champion Eric Norris. Also being inducted are drivers in the Heritage Class. The class includes Indianapolis 500 winners Bill Vukovich and Bob Sweikert, sports car champion George Follmer, Marshall Sargent, and Rick Henderson.

Madera Racing on MAVTV cameras will be rolling for the prestigious evening as well.

Clovis, CA’s Herzog is attending for the second consecutive season. In 2018, Herzog had three top-fives in the first four races of the year including a best-finish of second to lead the standings into June. He ended up second in the final standings in October. In 2019, Herzog scored his first career televised Pro Late Model win on April 6th. He added a fast-time, and finishes of third, fifth, and seventh on the year. He aims to maintain his points lead all the way to the championship this season. The third-generation driver has experience in touring series including a top-ten in his debut NASCAR K&N Pro Series, West start.

Las Vegas’ Tanner Reif is off and running as the points leader of the Jr. Late Model Series with the best start in series history. Reif has three wins and a second-place finish through the first four races of the year for drivers ages 10-16 years old. He has scored eight consecutive fast times dating back to last July. Reif has earned 233 points – a full eight points higher than 2017 champion Jesse Love’s season start through four rounds. He also has 210 laps led out of a possible 251.

The next race event for the MAVTV-televised Nut Up Pro Late Model Series and 51FIFTY Energy Drink Jr. Late Model Series is June 29th with the Reverend Ron Spencer Red, White, and Blue Classic.
