Younger Riddle Poised for Montana 200 Victory

Via NSLMS Media

Wenatchee, WA (July 11, 2018) Most auto racers are a superstitious lot. They believe in bad luck, good luck, karma, patterns and signs. Tayler Riddle, (Naches, WA) for example, has finished the last three Montana 200’s in 4th, 3rd, and 2nd place positions. This pattern ends with a victory circle trophy and a big check. At least that’s what Tayler Riddle is aiming for in 2018. Tayler has won numerous “big races,” but the Montana 200 continues to elude him. This year’s Montana 200 is also a sanctioned Northwest Super Late Model Series (NWSLMS) event, which will bring a few new faces to the weekend.

Starting, like many drivers, in a quarter midget, Tayler moved up through the ranks and into the late model division when he was 19. An older chassis that was updated from big brother Owen was just what he had been waiting for to get his late model start. With his Dad, Owen and Jeff Jefferson doing the updates, it was sure to be a winner. Tayler has been very successful over the years. He has proven to be just as talented, better on occasion, winning races like the Chilly Willy, the Fall Classic and the 2016 Summer Showdown.

Inspired growing up by watching NASCAR on Sundays and seeing races at his favorite and most challenging track, Yakima Speedway on Saturday nights, Tayler insisted on attending the late model and NASCAR NW Tour events. Riddle’s parents, Don and Janelle, had to see the writing on the wall. Inspiration for Tayler now takes on a different form. Having won several of the “go-to” events, he enjoys the challenge of going to a new track, working harder to achieve a new goal, trying to win a new race.

Racing for years to come is still on the horizon for Riddle, including perhaps crossing off a bucket list item at the Winter Showdown. Goals sometimes change along the way, but as long as it’s fun and affordable, he’ll be racing. Working for the family excavating business or working on the racecars, Tayler doesn’t get much down time in the summer.

Tayler is thankful for many people who have helped him along the way: His parents who gave him this opportunity, Chuck Carruthers, who is always there for racing advice, sponsors: Jim’s Hay, Bowsnatcher, Don Riddle Excavating, Primary Electric, Yukon Trucking, Betterall Auto Sales, and most importantly his crew and friends who take the time away from their families to go racing with him.

Riddle will have some stiff competition in this year’s Montana 200, not only from last year’s winner Owen Riddle, but also SRL standout Jeremy Doss, and the most recent Summer Showdown winner Preston Peltier just to name a few. A field of close to 30 from the US and Canada are set to take on this year’s NWSLMS/Montana 200 event.

The action gets started on Thursday, July 19th for the optional practice day, with the featured 200 lap event on Saturday July 21st.
