Jason Romero Completes Sweep Of PCS Races At Roseville

ROSEVILLE, CALIFORNIA (September 24, 2016) - 2009 All American Speedway champion Jason Romero continued his pure dominance at the speedway, taking his third consecutive Pacific Challenge Series presented by PenneyLawyers.com victory at the track in 2016. Romero again fought hard with points leader Jeremy Doss, who inched closer to his second series championship as well. The race had six lead changes and four different leaders in the 100 lap contest.

2015 PCS champion John Moore of Granite Bay won the American Racer Tire Dash for a set of American Racer Tires and for the pole position alongside his son, 2015 Rookie of the Year Cole Moore. After an exciting side-by-side battle, John Moore took off with the lead position by a couple of car lengths.

Former Roseville Late Model champions Romero and three-time champ Matt Scott occupied row two and both drivers went after Cole Moore. Scott took over second on lap 14 with Romero making a nice inside move on lap 17 in turn three to take third.

John Moore, Scott, and Romero ran nose-to-tail through lapped traffic while teammates Doss and Jeff Bischofberger jostled past 2014 champion Mike Beeler of Modesto. The strong battles gave Doss fifth and Bischofberger sixth, critical moves in the championship hunt. Things intensified for the lead position and Scott led lap 29. Contact between the top-three caused a left rear flat tire for John Moore sending him spinning on that same lap.

Scott led just the 29th lap as Romero swooped past on the outside to take the lead on the restart. Beeler used the restart to come back at Bischofberger as well in a side-by-side battle. Bischofberger drove away to challenge Cole Moore and take over fourth on lap 51. The caution flew on that lap for Danny Malfatti spinning in turn four and Scott was forced to surrender second position with a fluid leak that ended his night.

Romero charged away from Doss on the ensuing restart, before a caution for Tracy Bolin sliding up the hill in turn one and nearly tagging the wall. He was able to pit and make repairs to return to the race. Cole Moore and Romero suffered damage in the melee but continued. Doss used the restart to take the lead from Romero on the outside and he held the top position for three laps as the two slid around the track door handle to door handle. Romero took the lead back on lap 59.

Beeler stalled on lap 87 for a caution period but he was able to return after a pit stop. Lapped traffic was still mixed in with the leaders, causing contact that damaged the front suspension on John Moore's car as he came to a stop for a lap 90 caution. With ten laps to go, lapped cars were pulled out giving Doss another opportunity to race Romero. He led just the 91st lap and Romero took the lead back.

The pair remained locked side-by-side to the approval of the crowd before the battle was nullified when Chris Scribner came back on the track after a stop in the pits. Romero snuck through and never relinquished the lead, while Bischofberger used the incident to overtake his teammate Doss for second as well at the finish.

Stockton Labor Day Weekend winner Travis Milburn of Eagle, ID had a steady race for fourth with Cole Moore rounding out the top-five. Milburn's drive from tenth starting position to fourth earned him the Penney Racing Supply Hard Charger award.
