Havasu 95 Speedway To Resolve A Street Stock Tie This Saturday Night

By Dave Grayson

The most scenic quarter mile paved oval in the southwest will be presenting "April Racin' Fools Night" on Saturday. Highlighting the on track action will be the Get It In Gear Street Stocks who will be resolving their season championship on this day. Drivers Gavin Bucy and Bobby Keirns will start Saturday's final racing tied in the championship standings. Making this situation even more interesting is the fact that the Street Stocks will be running twin, 25 lap, main events.

Also on the track this Saturday will be the Maintenance Solution Team Factory Stocks, featuring lady drivers only, who will also be resolving their championship run. The Sam Nichols Electric Factory Stocks will also see action along with the speedway's new Tough Truck program. The spectator gates will open at 5pm with racing at 7pm. All of this quarter mile racing action is being presented by track sponsors Cambell's Redi Mix and Big O Tires.

At the beginning of the speedway's 2015-2016 winter racing season, it appeared that Street Stock driver Gavin Bucy was going to run away with the division championship. During a period that ran from October 3d to January 16th, Bucy scored six, consecutive, main event wins. Meanwhile Bobby Keirns scored six, consecutive, second place finishes that at least kept him close to Bucy in the division's points standings.

Keirns is a veteran at the Havasu 95 Speedway who has collected more than his fair share of feature wins over the years. He's also a former track champion. A race car fabricator and driver of this quality doesn't just race on cruise control and accept second place. He digs a little deeper to determine what needs to be done to score race wins and enough points to claim a championship. That's exactly what Keirns did during the second half of the speedway's racing season. From February 6th to March 5th, Keirns scored three, consecutive, feature wins and that's what led to a tie in the championship standings.

Keep an sharp eye on these two drivers Saturday night. With the Street Stocks running twin, 25 lap, main events just about anything can happen that will crown the division's new champion.
