NWSLMS Well Represented in Summer Showdown

Wenatchee, WA (June 27, 2019)–The Northwest’s premier Super Late Model shootout, Evergreen Speedway’s Summer Showdown, brings together the top drivers from across the country chasing one of the richest payouts in the sport. Included in the entry list are several of the stars of the Northwest Super Late Model Series including past champion Garrett Evans who is joined by Trevor Cristiani, Tayler Riddle and 2019 Jefferson Pitts Racing Rookie of the Year candidate, Tristan Haider.

Evans is chasing that elusive first Summer Showdown victory. Considered one of the top late model drivers in the sports history, the Evergreen event is one that Evans has not conquered in his illustrious career. In 2019 Evans has picked up a win at the Yakima Speedway Apple Cup and is ranked inside the top-3 in the NWSLMS championship points standings. Evans legendary resume includes wins in the Montana 200, Idaho 200, Yakima Speedway’s Apple Cup and Fall Classic, multiple NASCAR touring championships and top-5 finishes from coast to coast including two top-3 runs in the Summer Showdown (2014 and 2015).

Riddle is the 2016 champion of the Summer Showdown. The Naches, Wash. native has amassed a strong resume in his own right over the last 10 years including wins in the Yakima Speedway Fall Classic, a Chilly Willy 150 at Tucson Speedway, Leonard Evans 150 and the Spokane Super Oval I-90 Challenge. In addition, Riddle has multiple top-5 finishes in the Montana and Idaho 200 races. Debuting a new race car to start the 2019 season, Riddle will be one to watch in this year’s Summer Showdown.

Cristiani brings a wealth of talent to his first foray into Summer Showdown racing. Just missing a win on the last lap of the NWSLMS most recent event, the South Sound 125, the Idaho native is among a handful of young Northwest talent looking to establish themselves in the region’s premier racing events. Cristiani has picked up victories in a variety of racing series including the Royal Purple Modified Series, the Rocky Mountain Challenge Series, Lucas Oil Modified Racing Series and the Pacific Challenge Late Model Series.

Haider, who cut his teeth at South Sound Speedway, has enjoyed a solid rookie season on the Northwest Super Late Model Series. Currently ranked among the top-10 drivers chasing the 2019 championship, Haider is making his first attempt to run the Summer Showdown. The Olympia, Wash. young gun has made one start at Evergreen Speedway, running tenth on the .375-mile oval inside the facility’s longer .650-mile track being used this weekend.

The Summer Showdown at Evergreen Speedway kicks off on Friday with an open practice session for all teams. Qualifying and positioning racing takes place on Saturday with the Summer Showdown 200 lap main event set for Sunday afternoon. Updates on all of the Summer Showdown action can be found on the NWSLMS Facebook page.
