Zachary Telford Gearing Up For Busy Late Season Push

MIDDLETON, IDAHO (August 31, 2016) – 12 year-old Zachary Telford of Middleton, ID has one of the most diverse racing schedules on the West Coast, and he has a full plate of action set for the next few months as his racing season winds down. Telford has competed on both asphalt and dirt in only his second full-time season of racing.

Most notably on Telford's agenda has been a return to Outlaw Kart racing where he began his career last year. Telford has made a pair of starts in August at Cycleland Speedway south of Chico, CA in anticipation of competing in September's Kyle Larson Outlaw Kart Showcase. The Showcase is the largest Outlaw Kart event on the West Coast with more than 200 drivers competing.

Telford will race in the 250cc division as one of almost 50 entries competing in that class. Driving the #17z Penguin Powersports, Precision Framing Inc., Mendiola Custom Homes entry, he will qualify and heat race on Monday September 5th to be seeded into the main events on Tuesday September 6th. Telford is one of four Idaho drivers competing in the division as well. Both days of action can be streamed live in Pay Per View on www.FastFourMedia.com

After the Outlaw Kart Showcase, Telford will compete in multiple other Outlaw Kart races including events at OMC in Boise, ID and Glen Morgan Raceway in Star, Idaho.

On September 24th, he will head back south to Madera Speedway in Madera, CA to again compete in the inaugural 51FIFTY Junior Late Models series. The MAVTV-televised Junior Late Models are the world's first asphalt full size stock car division for drivers ages 10-16. Telford made three starts so far in 2016 including a best finish of eighth in his debut in April.

Drivers in the series compete at speeds exceeding 90 miles per hour in 3000 pound Late Models. The 12 year-old driver has consistently recorded lap times in the 15.7 seconds on the one-third mile oval, averaging 76 miles per hour.

Telford plans to also compete in Junior Late Model series race on October 8th for their season finale during the Short Track Shootout. Action for the series airs on "Madera Racing" on MAVTV on Thursday nights. Check your local listings!

Plans are also in motion for Telford to make his debut in INEX-sanctioned Legends car competition at Meridian Speedway in Idaho before the season has completed. He would be one of the youngest drivers nationally to be approved for the move onto the quarter-mile oval.
